Survival Food – Are You Prepared?

survival foodWhen you think about survival food you need to think short term, intermediate and then long term needs.

You also need to concern things you will be able to buy locally, shelf life, space for storage, dehydrated vs. freeze dried, shipping and number of other topics.

Today an unprecedented number of American Families are returning to the ideas of self-reliant and independence.  The step in doing so is storing supplies of food.   Events and circumstances  that we now find ourselves facing in the United States are very unfamiliar to most of us.  The times are serious and we must each act wisely in our choices are we face an unknown future.

There are a number of reasons for putting away supplies of food.  Different people have different reasons but the fundamental reason is the same for all American Families.   Survival Food can provide your family independence, freedom, security, and yes, even survival.

Survival Food – Are You Prepared?

While you may not agree with all the reason listed below, they are all factors why you should consider storing food.

  • Runaway Inflation: One in six Americans presently worry about getting food daily.
  • Global Warming:  Real or fabricated the concept of “Global Warming” could control fertilization of crops, taxation on farmers and control the amount and kind of you can buy. There is legislation in the works that could stop people from gardening and mandate what farmers could grow.
  • Food Quality: Imported food from countries with no safety standards for insecticides, fertilizers, bacterial and chemical contamination have entered our country’s food supply and have proven to be very dangerous. eFoodsDirect sources ingredients from growers who follow Good Agricultural Practices and are GAP Certified. This means that they are audited frequently to ensure that they do not use harmful insecticides, pesticides or fertilizers during cultivation. Furthermore, GAP certification ensures proper controls over the quality of water used for irrigation, animal access to crops and proper disposal of any raw waste, equipment sanitation, sanitary facilities for workers, transportation.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Natural disaster (earthquakes, fires, hurricanes or floods) may strike and access to your local food store may not be an option.
  • Job Loss: The stress of a job loss can be significantly reduced when you have a stored extra food.
  • Long Term Illness: Having extra food stored in case of long term illness is a smart plan for all families in case you are not able to work and earn income.
  • Storms and Weather:  Catastrophic events could make food impossible to transport, destroy crops and isolate people from food supplies. American crop failures are creating shortages of food to be processed even though you are not seeing the shortages in your grocery store yet.
  • Help Others: A supply of food can help your neighbor, family members or anyone in need.

There may be many other reasons you decide a food reserve is the right thing to do.
